Sample or typeset any of our fonts.
MiniFonts GetSet lets you typeset lines of text using pixel fonts from the MiniFonts range in your browser and save them out to your hard drive for use in Web page menus, buttons and captions. Click on the blue linked headings over the various controls for more details or you can read the full details and instructions..
Subscription Keys
If you've bought a GetSet Subscription, paste your activation key into the 'key' box and click the enter button >. You will then be able to set your own words and phrases for ten days.
Without a valid key, you will only see the default text 'MiniFonts Sample' but it is still useful for previewing the fonts.
Typesetting Fonts
Choose the typeface you want to use in the font pop-up menu. The correct setting size will be applied automatically. You can override this by typing a number into the 'size' box, but it must be a multiple of the design size to avoid distortion.
Click on the 'Set' button to update the setting if necessary. See the note about the limitations of this online typesetting facility.
Font Colours
For most purposes, it is best to do your setting in black and white and set the final colours in your image editing program, however, we have provided a few basic foreground and background colours, including a transparent background so that you can experiment.
Background transparency might not work in some browsers, in which case you will have to replace the background colour in your image editing program.
Effects
This facility lets you add outlines or drop shadows to your setting for special effect.
Set the value (stroke width), effect style (None, Outline or Shadow) and colour with the controls. Certain colour combinations are not going to work with small type. Use your image editing program to fine-tune the colours. Spacedout introduces letter spacing based upon the 'value' set. Use 'None' to reset everything.
Text Output
To get your text setting (as a .GIF file) onto your computer, left-click on the setting and drag it onto your desktop or right-click and save it to any location on your drive that you wish.
We have left some extra space around the setting but you can crop-off the excess in your graphics program to minimise the file size.
Limitations
Due to differences in operating systems, browsers and keyboard mapping for different countries, some characters may not be available.
Character set
Click on a line of characters to auto-type it, then click 'Set'. You can then isolate individual characters in the text box.
Canvas styles
The canvas styles are 'light' (the default grey), 'dark' (black) and 'photo' (which gives a disruptive background image suitable for testing captions).
The default type colours and effects change to suit the background automatically but you can modify these as required. |
