![]() pixel font typesetting onlineMiniFonts GetSet gives you access to the entire MiniFonts pixel font range of typefaces and picture fonts right from your own browser. You can set any font at the correct designed size in any colour and background colour combination including transparent. When you are happy with the setting, you simply drag it onto your desktop as a ready-to-go GIF file that you can insert into your Web page. instructionsMiniFonts GetSet can be used in a number of ways. You can preview a sample setting in any of our fonts completely free. Just choose the font you would like to see from the font menu. Any associated styles can then be selected in the style menu. The correct size is chosen for you automatically. You can change this manually but only exact multiples of the correct size will give satisfactory results. You can choose type and background colours from the colour and background menus. There are some pre-set colours already there or you can choose custom to specify any colour in the common six-digit hexadecimal format, e.g. 00FF00 is bright red. A background option of transparent is available but not all browsers support this. The canvas pop-up gives three background options: 'light' - the default grey grid, 'dark' - a black background with a grid and 'photo' - a disruptive, photographic background that is good for testing captions. Colours and styles change to suit the canvas automatically to provide a more realistic starting point. To be able to specify your own text instead of the default sample, you will have to purchase a ten day subscription at $10. That is just $1 a day! Ten days should be enough time for any project. With a subscription, you can set any text you like in any font you like — and apply optional effects too. ![]() effectsIn addition to the regular settings, there a some useful effects that you can apply to your type. Outline puts an outline of the width specified in the value box around your setting in the colour specified in the effects colour menu. Outlines are especially useful to make captions stand out on photos or mottled backgrounds. Shadow puts a drop shadow on your setting in the colour specified in the effects colour menu and at a distance as specified in the value box. Spacedout introduces letter-spacing into your setting based upon the number in the value box. A value of one puts one space between each letter, two puts two spaces, and so on. outputHaving made your setting, you will want to import it into a Web page. The easy way is to simply drag the setting from your browser window onto the desktop or, if you prefer, you can right-click on the setting and save the image wherever you like. The setting is a regular GIF file that can be used as is or it can be further modified in your usual image editing program. picture fontsAccessing icons and pictures from the keyboard is not so easy as regular type so we have done something to simplify the process. If you click on the character set link, above the text entry box, you will be able to insert groups of characters by just clicking on one of the sets. Then it is just a matter of isolating the individual icon you want by editing the text in the text box. Try inserting spaces and clicking the set button to identify which character belongs to which icon.
You will find further help notes on the GetSet page. Just click on any of the highlighted links above the various menus and boxes. |
